Currently VODs (videos on demand) can only be stored up to 60 days for Twitch Partners and Turbo subscribers, while Highlights never expire.

1. Save Locally

Twitch stores past broadcasts as VODs and they stay saved for either 14 or 60 days depending on your account type. You can access them in the Content section of your Creator Dashboard, Video Producer page. These videos are usually stored as mp4 files on your computer. Save them in a safe place or on a long-term storage like your desktop or external drive.

Streamers can also turn VODs into Highlights and these last indefinitely on your channel. Alternatively, you can export them to YouTube and keep a copy of your VODs as well.

If you’re not a Partner or a Prime user, past streams are deleted after 14 or 60 days. But, many streamers re-upload their videos to YouTube and this is an alternative way to immortalize your streams and chats. This method also works for archiving Highlights. Just make sure you have enough space on your computer to store them. The process may take a while to prepare the video.

2. Download and Save

If you’re a Twitch Partner or Prime subscriber, then past broadcasts are saved on the platform for 60 days. Otherwise, they’re deleted after 14 days. But, you can keep them forever if you turn them into Highlights, which are archived indefinitely.

However, if you want to keep your Highlights on your computer as video files or upload them to YouTube, it can be a time-consuming process. That’s because you have to manually find, download, and edit each individual clip before you can post it to your channel.

Thankfully, there are several ways to automate the entire process. Using these methods will save you hours of work and make it easier to grow your audience by posting highlights on YouTube and other social media platforms. 3. Upload to YouTube

VODs saved to a computer will automatically disappear after sixty days (Partners, Prime, and Turbo users) or fourteen days (everyone else). This is because Twitch limits storage to keep their service running smoothly and to avoid overusing the system.

However, you can prevent your VODs from disappearing by turning them into Highlight videos. Then they will be saved forever.

To do this, find the VOD you want to turn into a highlight and click the purple button above the yellow bar. This will take a few moments to process the video and save it.

If you want to upload these highlights directly to YouTube, connect your YouTube account from the profile icon -> Settings -> Connections menu. This is a faster way than downloading and reuploading the videos to YouTube manually. However, it may lose some of the quality as a result.
